Ebenhaeserhoogte School was built in 1979 to cater for the Afrikaans community in Wepener. The first Principal was Mr Godfrey Leeuw. Principals that followed were Mr Banthom, Mr van der Merwe, and Mr Jacobs (Acting). Mrs Malie Marais took over from Mr Jacobs from 1994 - 2014 when she retired. Mr Aubrey September took over as Principal from Mrs Marais in 2015. It was around 2016 that the school building started falling apart and the Department of Education decided to demolish these buildings and build a complete new school. Building of the new school started in 2016 and Mr September and his staff moved into the new building in 2018. Mr September resigned at the end of 2022 and Mrs Mariette Wessels took over as Acting Principal. Throughout the years the old and new buildings and its staff guided many hundreds of young souls to the light of wisdom and knowledge. Due to the changes in the diversity of the community, Ebenhaeserhoogte changed the Language of Learning and Teaching (LoLT) to English from the beginning of 2022. Afrikaans is being phased out as a Home language. Sesotho is our Home Langauge and English our First Additonal Language.. All subjects are taught in English except Sesotho Home Language.

NO FEE INSTITUTION

At present we have 513 learners (from Grade R to Grade 7) being tutored by 20 well qualified Educators.

 Our academic results consistently maintain good national achievements, but there’s so much more than a good academic record. Since the school opened the doors, it has been a place where all learners in Free State and beyond, can call home as it celebrates and embraces ethnic and cultural diversity.
